The pooca nodded, not saying much. It quickly reared, and strode forward in a canter.
Eileen never thought she'd see a pooca, unless on the first of November which was said to be when they appear most often. She was silent, and didn't dare to look at it. Sammy on the other hand was still staring at it and commenting on it. Most of the time when she did this, the pooca would just snort.

"An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered; an adventure is an inconvenience rightly considered.” - G.K. Chesterton
Misty had been abnormally quiet the past hour, mostly because she was listening. She didn’t like the sound of the riddles and laughter in the brush, but part of her was very excited to be having such a real adventure. She completely forgot about the riskiness of the path, and allowed herself to splash alongside it, dappling the snakes that were next to her with a glowing gold. She pricked her ears forward, listening to the riddles.
“Snow!” She heard Leofric say. “The answer is snow! But,” she saw him frown. “What do the voices mean by that?”
Misty gasped, she was thinking of snow as well. “The voices must mean the mountains! During this time of year they are always covered with a fresh blanket of sparkling snow. It makes perfect sense; the rainbow is even pointing in the direction of them!” She yipped excitedly, her tail wagging. All fear of the strange voices gone, she didn’t find them that scary, more impish, like Tipo’s cheeky grin, or Biscuit’s mischievous giggles.
But when Leafric gasped and pointed to a dark figure in the gloom, she suddenly felt unsure. What if they were more than just cheeky mischief makers? She swallowed and inched closer to the rest of the pups, so close that her soft tail wag bumped against one of Patrick’s tails.
“What was that?” Patrick whimpered, glancing sideways at Misty. Xavier, being the oldest of all of them, reared up and hissed. “Show yourself!” He said, trying to look as big as he could. The shadow emerged, and took shape in the form of a dark horse, with golden eyes, like Morgryff’s, and a flowing, shadowed mane that twisted and faded into the air. Misty gasped and Xavier shrinked back in surprise.
Foolish younglings, Naughty Fuzzballs! I am warning you, turn back now. Your packs are awefuly worried, and seek your presence.
It said with a hollow voice. It made Patrick shiver, but something about the pooca didn’t seem bad…he puffed out his chest, hoping he looked braver than he felt. “But we have to find out what’s at the end!” You seek the rainbow's end, still? Is one warning not enough? Your pack is awfuly frightened, and seek your presence.
“The pooca isss right!” Betsy hissed suddenly, peeping her head out from the grass. “If we are to finish thisss quessst we mussst have a grown-up with usss!” Sammy, however, had already bribed the shadow with all the remaining cookies.
“NOT MY COOKIES!” Misty gasped, pouncing on the bag of her precious treasure. “There must be something else we can do!” The pooca narrowed its golden eyes suspiciously, making Misty flash it a sheepish grin. “Um, here’s one! She yipped, giving it a single chocolate chip cookie.
The pooca shook its head with a shivering sigh, but upon taking a bite from the biscuit, it suddenly seemed a lot less frightening. Misty smiled. There is no time to find the rainbow’s end, You must go home to dine, You families are searching for you, You said you would return by the fade of the sun, But that you did not do.
At that, the sound of a lone howl cut through the air. It was wavering and unsteady, but Misty recognized the sound almost immediately. “Chaeser!” She gasped, grinning. “They are looking for us!” She turned towards the sound and took a deep breath, letting out her own babyish howl in short bursts. She pricked her ears to listen, and after a few moments, another howl is heard, seeming more enthusiastic.
The pooca turned its head in the direction of the howl, and after only a few minutes of expectant watching, a young brown wolf came in running through the shadows, panting as if he wasn’t quite so used to all the running.
“Misty! Wha-where have you all been?!” Chaeser panted, his pink tongue lolling out of his maw, but he wore relieved grin as Misty ran up to him with a yip.
“Having an adventure of course!” Misty said, wagging her tail. Chaeser looked at her and laughed.
“Everyone is worried sick about you, even Kfira joined in to help search! When are y-AH, WHAT IN LUNARYK IS THAT!” He yelped suddenly, falling backwards onto his haunches at the site of the pooca.
The shadow blinked, seeming slightly amused.
“That’s our pooca friend! We thought it was tricking us before, we were really scared at first, well I wasn’t, but anyway, it turned out it was trying to help us! Kinda…” Misty said, ending with a slight giggle. She felt much less nervous now that an older, more experienced wolf was around. To her, Chase was the perfect mix of strong and tough, and playful and funny.
Chaeser whimpered, but, upon seeing the blank faces of the puppies, quickly gathered himself and replaced his distressed frown with a grin. “Well anyway, everyone is worried sick, you’re not thinking about spending the night out here, are you?”
Patrick glanced up at the sky, it was dark and cloudy, but the faint light of the rainbow gave just enough light not to make it scary. “Well…what if you came with us? Then we could have someone big and tough to protect us!” He woofed with a smile.
Chaeser blinked. Big and tough? An impish smirk spread across his face, he liked being responsible, though he wasn’t good at it. “Well, alright, let me go tell Kfira, that way she can let everyone know you guys are safe, ok?”
Misty, Patrick and the snakes all agreed.
(Sorry about introducing /another/ character, but Chase is necessary to keep them on the adventure! Sorry if I missed anything, and I hope you guys don’t mind about my ideas and such. ^^; And also, sorry about the uber long post, but please read all of it, it’s good for you. XD)
"Hello Chaessser!" Hissed Sammy. Now that the pooka had eaten his fill of cookies, he looked more serious and protective than fur-raising and mysterious. Sammy and Eileen were quite liking him now.
"Oh yeah, and Chaeser...Don't try and ride him if he let's you, otherwise he'll probably buck you off by accident. I tried once." Eileen whispered in Chaeser's ear, giggling.
"You know, he kind of remindsss me of Morgryff." Sammy hissed in a low voice.

Kalivo blinked, changing glances between Chaeser and the Pooka with a suspicious frown. “But I thought Morgryff said you weren’t safe to be with.” He said frankly. “Especially after you digged a hole in his den looking for mice.” He frowned in disapproval.
Sammy and Eileen tried to hide their giggling, but ended up making weird faces when trying to do so. "You did do that once, though." Eileen pointed out, raising a paw.
"Anyway, I'm sssure Chaessser will do jussst fine!" Sammy grinned. "But where are we going to ssspend the night? When are we going to go to bed?"
"Yeah?" Eileen said, yawning.

(OOC: oh wow. I think I have flunked the RPG. We had a robotics tournament that was 10 hours away, so we left friday morning and returned sunday night.)
Elrohir laughed with Eileen and Sammy and said "Welcome to the crew Chaeser! This is going to be great having you with us." He tried to remember what they had been doing all this time, but had a brain fart.
Just look at them *sighs* I have never heard better music. And plus, the music is clean! Best song of Mythology: Now We Are Free or Hunter's Moon
"Chaeser!" Diosca barked happily. "Do you think the rainbow'll still be here tomorrow? I mean, rainbows don't usually last overnight... but, if this is a magic rainbow, like we thought, then maybe it will? I don't know..."
"Wow, I think this is the longest adventure I've had! And the aweshomest. Don't ya' think?" Eileen yipped, wagging her tail.
"Yesss, indeed it isss!" Sammy hissed happily. She continued following the pooca, now knowing the pros and cons to the golden pathway, and feeling safer with an adult wolf around. Sammy completely forgot about sleep, but she probably wouldnt've been able to sleep anyway with all the excitement. Eating the crumbs that the pooca dropped from his cookie was her dinner, and it actually was more satisfying than she thought it would be.
"What we need isss water." Sammy suddenly hissed, and Eileen nodded.
"We had a nice drink from the river, but that was hours ago. Oh well, we're nearing the mountains, so it's got to rain sometime." she said, smacking her lips.
Sammy stopped for a moment and said, "Sssay...That isss true! And that alssso means we're nearing the rainbow, sssince the pooca gave usss that hint." Her smile beamed as she continued her steady pace.

River look seem happy. "Sammy, now that we are heading the right direction. Could melt some of the snow to get water to drink." "We should also watch as to wear we are stepping. There may be ice we could slip or again have heavy drifts" Said River.
"Maybe ssso!" Sammy hissed. She observed the ground, watching to see if she'd end up in a puddle.
Eileen was looking to the skies, though. In the distance she could see the rainbow heading towards the snow-plated mountains. It was now getting much colder, and Eileen seemed to shiver. There was only the light of the golden path and the rainbow, now, and Eileen wished the sun was still in the sky, shining it's light on the rainbow so that it glimmered even more than it already did. She spotted a moth fluttering about, and started to chase it.
"Come back here, little guy! Or girl..." She said as she waited for it to land on a flower she lured it to. She was now still and silent, until...WHAM! Sammy pounced onto the moth, her mouth wide open so you could see her fangs, then snapped her jaws shut.
"Eww..." She suddenly hissed, spitting the moth out. "I thought it wasss a moussse!" Sammy's toung was hanging on the side of her mouth.
"Sammy!" Eileen gasped, very gently letting the moth climb up her paw. "Mice don't hang around on flowers!"
"Inssstinctsss." Sammy said with a mischevious grin. "I think I sssee a mouse, I have to catch it. Unlesss I'm full, or I don't feel like chasssing mice. Or I'm jussst being nice."
"Hmp." Eileen grumbled, and continued to walk.

River keep on walking. But he heard Eileen and Sammy. The two of them were chasing a moth. " Those he seem to be getting a bit colder out. He stared up at the sky and wondered if it was going to start snowing. They were now approaching the mountain as they contiune to walk along the golden path."
Diosca shivered as a cold breeze rippled through her fur. She looked up at the snow-capped mountains ahead, a mixture of anxiety and excitement running through her. She ran ahead until she could see the path running through two of the mountains. The route seemed dark and foreboding, the golden path the only light.
"Maybe now's the time for my poem?" she asked kindly, her fur shuddered in the short, sharp breeze but she didn't notice "We must keep our spirits up if we are to go on much longer." she suggested and without waiting for an answer started to recite: "We must be strong, we must be brave for the sky is darkening now, We must keep our spirits up, keep them up we will, We must follow the glimmer of light, the all famous, rainbaw (prounounce it this way to sound right) For we must follow the glimmer of light, the glimmer of light up the hill.
The light has been fading fast, oh! the light has been fading fast.
Padding together makes it easier, As we face our task we have set A group of us together, are as strong as Julius Caesar When we are together, there is nothing that dare pose a threat..."
Arrietty kept a blank face while making up the poem as she went along hence the randomness of it but she based it on the journey they were facing.
"I'm known to be quite vexing, I'm just forewarning you..." ~ Harley Quinn
River heard the poem and said "very nice poem Arrietty." "River thought some more and then said Watch your step." He looked up at the sky and notice that there were snowflakes falling around him. River barked "It snowing". The Rainbow was fading quite fast. He did not seem to be seeing much light from it now.
"Cool poem, Arriety!" Eileen yipped. She heard River's bark and looked to the skies right after.
"Sssnowing? In ssspring?" Sammy hissed, burying herself in Eileen's fur.
"It didn't do this last year...But it did do it the year before that." Eileen said, frowning. Luckily it was only a little snow shower, but either way it was troublesome for the wolves--and the snakes especially, who didn't have a fur coat.

"We may want to make plan of what to do if we want to keep going for the stake of the snakes" said River. I would not want to be at the top of the mountain top and the snake have no place for them to stay warm.
"I hope we are close to the end for this snow could be for a bit ask River." "I just hope that it does not get to bad or we maybe here for awhile or we could get lost." River just hoped it was going be alright for it was spring and it was cold and windy and a bit snowy.

(So sorry for disappearing, guys. School ate me. -.-)
Shep and Bianca had not said much for the past hour or two, preferring to watch and listen to see what happened. They lingered at the back of the group, keeping an eye out for any trolls who might want to steal their cookies. At the appearance of the pooca, the two friends were so spooked that they actually ran away to hide, only returning when they saw Chaser coming and realized that the shadowy horse was not a threat. Now, they trotted behind the others as they headed up the mountain.
The air began to grow short and crisp around them. Shep, with his bulky frame and thick fur, was not too bothered by the cold yet. However, the furless Bianca began to shiver without the sunlight to warm her.
"I'm cold," Bianca hissed quietly.
Shep noticed that Bianca was beginning to slow down and struggle to continue moving forward because of her low temperature, made worse by the fact that her white body prevented her from storing heat for too long unlike a darker snake. Gently, Shep used his nose to lift up his cold friend and allow her to slither onto his back and bury herself in his warm fur. She slowly began to heat up a little, enough to keep her awake.
Shep, though he was worried about Bianca, couldn't help but giggle a bit at Arriety's poem. "Damien read a book about Julius Caesar a few weeks ago and he let me borrow it. It was pretty cool!"
"If only we were as sssstrong as Julius Caesar," Bianca said tiredly, "We could get to the end of the rainbow in no time!"

Diosca doubled back to stay closer to the others; not that she would admit it, but she was a bit scared. The high mountains cast shadows on the road ahead. Just then, there was an ominous sounding "CRACK!", and the ground began to shake.
"AHH!" Diosca yelled in fright, running backwards and aucceeding on tripping over her own feet. Soon she realised the source of the small earthquake as a few rocks tumbled down the mountain; it was a landslide!
Quickly she turned tail and ran backwards to get out of the way. "Come on guys, QUICK!" The rocks continued to fall, and when Diosca stopped running and turned back, they had blocked the path completely. Diosca gave a howl of despair. "How are we meant to get to the end of the rainbow now, the path's blocked!"
Sammy and Eileen had nearly been crushed with the rocks that fell from the mountains. Eileen danced about, running away from the land slide as Sammy coiled herself around Eileen's torso. She found a big rock and went behind it for protection. A small rock hit Eileen's forehead, and Eileen sqeaked as loudly as a whinnying horse. "Is everybody ok?!" she shouted at the top of her lungs when the landslide was over.
"Do I look ok? If I had human ssskin, I'd be as white as sssnow. And ssspeaking of sssnow, I think it'sss cleared up!" Sammy said with the hint of a smile.
Eileen rubbed her scratched and bruised forehead. "Well at least you didn't get hit by a rock--oh hey, so it has! I expected it to last longer." Eileen yipped.
But their hope quickly deteriorated. "How are we meant to get to the end of the rainbow now, the path's blocked!" Diosca said with a howl of despair.
"Oh no..." Eileen said, frowning. Her ears were flat on her head, and her tail drooped.
"Maybe we could climb?" Sammy said. "We musssn't give up hope now."
"Sammy's right, we need to stay hopeful. I'm sure it'll all work out just fine, we'll get to the rainbow. And about the climbing...I'm not very good at that stuff. Most snakes are used to that kind of turain." Eileen said, taking a deep breath as she looked at the mountains.
"Well it'sss the only way, and to be honessst I perfer climbing treesss, as I am a viper." Sammy hissed. She climbed down Eileen's leg and started to climb the rocks. Eileen eventually followed.

(Sorry for not posting for a while, Ill just pretend lady was there all the time with them)
Lady dodged the falling rocks and proceeded to climb up the mountain. "Come on guys, we can make it to the rainbow... I hope..." she said, carefully placing her feet infront of her as she trekked up the mountain.

Shep, after dodging the falling rocks and arriving safely at the group with the others, almost groaned in despair when Diosca pointed out that the path was blocked. He gazed glumly at the steep mountainside that the pups and snakes were beginning to climb. There was no way they could make it to the end of the rainbow in time!
But we have to try, Shep reminded himself. Sighing, he asked, "Bianca, you okay to climb?"
"I'm a bit chilly, but otherwissse yessss,"Bianca hissed, slithering off of Shep and heading towards the rocky mountainside.
Shep trotted off behind her, but he was more accustomed to short bursts of speed across rolling meadows, not this. Within the first thirty seconds, he'd already slipped on a pebble, lost his footing, and went sliding down a few feet before he caught himself. Again he stood, this time watching where he was going, and did his best to follow the others.
