The event has ended and the winners have been announced! Thanks a bunch to those who participated. :3Gold Rush
It was a lovely day in early spring, the kind of day when it’s just cold enough so you won’t get sweaty, but just warm enough so you’re not shivering your tail off. The baby blue sky was stuffed to the brim with funny shaped clouds, and the flowers and grass were as green and bright as the sun itself. Best of all though, it was not raining.
It had been raining the entire week, and it was the awful kind of rain that was too cold to play in, and much too dreary to sing in. Misty had been hoping since the second day that it would clear out by the time St. Patrick’s day came along, and thankfully, it did. Now, Misty could enjoy the warm, fresh spring air of the after-storm.
She was sitting at the base of an old oak tree in a rather open, flowery field with her friend Patrick. They had been conversing about regular puppy things, like cookies and bunnies and whether or not buffalos could really fly if they had wings. At least, it was normal, until suddenly, the sun poked its golden head out a bed of fluffy grayish white clouds, and a ribbon of colors shot through the sky.
Misty and Patrick gasped in unison as they stared, wide eyed, at the most perfect rainbow they had ever seen, it cut through the sky like a knife to butter, except…in a much prettier way.
“Patrick, do you see that!?” Misty yipped, standing up and reaching her little black nose to the clouds.
The green puppy laughed, “Of course I do! Hey, what do you think is at the end of a rainbow?”
“Sssome sssay there isss gold!” Said a squeaky little voice from under a rock. Misty jumped and stepped away from the large stone, where a spotted orange-yellow snake slithered from under it. “Hello!” He said again.
Patrick smiled at the snake, “Hello Jeff!”
“Hiya Jeffrey! You sssurprisssed me!” Misty giggled. Jeff laughed, which sounded a bit like a mix between hissing and sniffing. “Hey, but do you really think there is gold at the end of it? I think there are cookies!”
Jeff was too busy staring at the sky, his eyes like little drops of ink. But before anyone could reply to Misty, four other snakes slithered from between grass blades and flower stems. Misty looked at them with a grin, “Hey there snakes! Visiting for St. Patrick’s day?”
“Yup, how ya doing pup?” Hissed a black, red and white snake, who Misty recognized to be Jack. Next to him were George, the orange snake, then there was Xavier, the blue one, and Betsy, a spotted black and white snake who was sniffing a flower. Misty had befriended the legless reptiles last year, when Shep, a snake-herder, needed her and the other members’ help searching for them. There were two others, Sammy and Bianca, but they found owners that year, and since then lived happily with their newfound friends.
“Doing good! Look at that rainbow!” Misty yipped, pointing with a large white paw at the colors in the sky, still shining as brightly as ever. All the snakes turned their heads to the clouds and grinned, their little fangs glinting in the sunlight.
“Oh, how beautiful! It’sss ssso colorful!” Betsy says.
“We ssshhould chassse it!” George adds.
Everyone loved the idea; after all, Misty still wasn’t sure what surprise awaited her at the end. So Misty gathered her friends all around the Hangout, and together they began the gold rush.
~Plot Summery~
What really lies at the end of a rainbow? On a rather uneventful spring day, with the help of their Irish guide Patrick and a few helpful tips from the snakes, Misty and her friends have decided to try and find out! She’s inviting everyone on the hunt for the end of the rainbow. What lies at the end, gold, or something else?
Use your imagination to tell us what happened on their adventure! Where did they go? Did they make any friends? What happened?
The goal is for the pups and snakes to reach the finish by the end of the month. If they don’t, that’s fine, the end of the story will be written by me anyway, which will reveal what truly lies at the end of the rainbow…the Hangouts rainbow, anyway.
~How to Participate~
Hey everyone! This is an RPG, if you are not aware what an RPG is, it is a Role Playing Game. A special sort of writing game where everyone works together to create an amazing, unique story! Each player is in control of their own set of characters, and everyone must write one by one, post by post, until the story is completed!
The first thing you have to do is to choose which pup you want to use, you can only use one! And you must stick with this puppy throughout the entire story. If your puppy happens to have a companion of a friend, then you may also use that if you want to, but only if their image comes with it.
Once you have chosen your character, you can start writing! You must go by the original plot, and you must work with everyone else’s ideas. If someone decides that it should rain (oh no! They’ve lost the rainbow!), then your post should work with that idea, but you can make other things happen too. :3
You may participate if you have at least one pup. If you do not, then sorry, you can’t play! D: (But I may let you have one of my snakes, if you really want to join.)
~Before you post~
Here are a few rules. :3 But remember, before any RPG, you must read this topic!
misty-n-friends.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=important&action=display&thread=1
1. Please use proper spelling and grammar! If you have trouble with it, use a word processor like Microsoft Word or something else, just please, make your posts understandable to the best of your ability. :3 Also, preferably make posts at least a paragraph long. ^^
2. You must follow the plot! The plot is to reach the end of the rainbow, not finding the biggest cookie in the world or discovering a cave full of pineapples. The pups can go through as many obstacles as you want them too, just stick to the plot please!
3. You must work together to make the story. An RPG takes into account each and every post. You cannot ignore someone if they say it is evening, for example. However, if you think you have an awesome idea (such as, the pups discover a dragon that can help them travel faster), you must suggest it before you work with it. :3
4. No more than one pup can be used. If your pup happens to have a Puppy Buddy, or a Companion, then that’s ok, you can use both (but no more than two, not even if it's a Family Pack).
5. You must use the original image of your puppy, no making stuff up please! You cannot post a form with one of your Simple Pups and say, for example, that they are a Superior with a flying animation. Stick to what I designed, please. :)
6. Keep the story organized. If there is something going on, don’t make your puppies go off and do something else.
7. And lastly, have fun and be creative! ^-^
~Prizes and winners~
As always, judging was super hard! I had to read every single post and count them all up and all that, but I've finally decided on three winners. :3
I judged based on the following (in order of importance):
Creativity
Activity
Length of the posts
How well you interacted with the other RPers
Writing skill (this isn't the biggest because, of course, depending on your age and interests your writing skills will vary)
But putting all these points into account, I've decided on three winners, and they are...
3rd Place
*drum roll*
Shinki! Her writing skill is aweshome and her posts were nice and long, and interacted well with everyone else. :3
She wins Scruffy!
He is a Mutant puppy based on the Irish dog breed Irish Wolfhound. He is not a dog, he is a wolf, he just looks like a dog. ^^ Tipo is still the only "dog" on MnF, just wanted to clear that up. XD
2nd place...
*drum roll*
Horsie! She posted quite often, and she contributed with the story by introducing the golden path (which in the end, proved to have quite an interesting explanation thanks to everyone else feeding the idea!) so kudus for creativity and teamwork as well. :3
She wins Marigold!
Marigold is a Mutant with a butterfly mutation. Woohoo. :D
1st place...
*drum roll*
Brownie! She posted tons, had good length and good teamwork skills. Congrats!
She wins the grand prize, Euros!
He could technically be considered a Mutant as well, but, like Billy (the invisible pup) and Frankenpup, he sort of a special Mutant. :3 You can come up with any explanation you like as to why he's gold, or you could use my explanation. Either way, he's still the official pot-o-gold guardian! :D
So that's that. And remember, like Patrick said, even if you didn't win a puppy, you still gained experience from our little adventure. You guys' writing has probably improved, and I hope the event in itself was rewarding. Thanks to all those who participated, you guys are great RPers! We came up with a pretty aweshome story. XD
NOTE: For those of you who won a pup, please PM Lythiel with the owner name, name of the pup, and gender you want to give it. ;D
