F i n d i n g T i m k oEvent: MnF's 7th Birthday EventRoleplaying Game- Read the story here!Don't worry, it'll lead you back here in a jiffy. You smell that? That’s the scent of an adventure! Lucy found a mysterious letter attached to the feet of a Cavehopper bird. It took a while to decipher the message, but I’ve been putting the clues together, and it seems that the letter came from the mountains. It was signed, Timko, but we're not sure what kind of critter wrote it. In either case, some little fellow must be lost out there! I have requested a rescue party to be assembled. Uncle Gryph has agreed to lead the Fellowship, but we need all the help we can get! Will you join us on our trek across Lunaryk to the mountains?
How to PlayThis will be a game in the form of a roleplay, but it won’t be quite as involved as one. I will start the story, and each participant will continue the story as they like, using one of their existing pets or a representative (it can be yourself, or one of your OCs). Each time you post, roll the die (it is an attachment in your posts), this is the distance your Fellowship has traveled. It's a long way to the mountains! For every 20 “dashes” I will post an Adventure, basically a story prompt, which participants will have to respond to. For example: Player one will post, and her post will look something like this: Then Player Two will continue the story: The posts can be longer, more elaborate, or whatever you have time for, but the point is that your characters follow the story somehow, and you include a die roll.
Thus, once 20 Dashes have been reached, I may post something along these lines,
And so on, until we reach the mountains! The prompts that I will introduce every 20 dashes may at times include mini contests, such as a picture contest or solving a riddle, but they will be simple. Each adventure will be completed by the roleplayers (you), who will develop the story using their characters. How the mission is completed is up to you and your imaginationssss *throws glitter in the air* Accomplishing the QuestThe winner is determined by the roleplayer who participated the most throughout the adventure. Each time you post you gain 1 point, with Newbies (members with less than 5 pets) having the advantage, as each of their posts count for 2 points. The PrizeThe prize will be a new pet! Who might that pet be? Hm…that’s the mystery. We’re not sure who we’ll find in the caves! Will he need a home? We’ll see, but for sure this adventure has a new discovery to behold! Guidelines- No double-posting. Wait until another member posts before you reply again.
- Remember to roll the die when you post. Click the spoiler for a quick how-to:
- Please keep posts a minimum of three literate sentences.
- In this roleplay you can write as Misty, Morgryff or Lucy, plus your own
pet, character, or yourself. Please do not write as another member’s character unless given permission.
- You do not have to commit to the whole roleplay. If you can only post
every now and then, or have to stop, that’s totally fine, just be sure you leave the story at a place where others can pick up from. - Follow general MnF Roleplay rules.
End Date This will probably be the only event I’ll be able to do for a while, so this event will end November 12th.
Have fun!

It was a bit of a damp morning that day in Lunaryk, as the recent rains had just ended. No pup, gryphon, unicorn, dragon, or water horse had ever realized how big and beautiful the sun really was until then. The dewy grass shone like glass in its light, and everything seemed so much more vibrant than before. Granted, the humidity still hung around, but no one ever seemed to notice. They were too busy enjoying the sun, as one enjoys the return of a long-lost friend. It was on this skookum morning that two pups and a little unicorn foal pressed around Misty as she read—-or attempted to read--a letter that they had just received.
“What does it say?” Each one said this in a different way, but that was still the main point of their sentences. The letter was very hard to read, and it ever so slightly resembled chicken scratch. Whoever wrote the letter must’ve been in a big hurry--and they must’ve been quite cold, as Auki noted, for their handwriting was very shaky. But Misty managed to decipher the message eventually, and little by little discovered that it was actually a call for help from a critter named “Timko.”
“Where’d the letter come from, Lucy?” Every muscle tingled with suspense in Misty so that, to her ignorance, her tail wagged uncontrollably in Tala’s face. The pups pressed against Lucy, the same timid unicorn that had delivered the message.
“I got it from—I got it from a bird.” She replied, still out of breath. She tried to look at Misty in the eye, but with everyone staring at her she was forced to direct her gaze to the floor.
“What kind of bird?” Misty’s excitement intensified with every second.
“A cave…popper.” Lucy blurted.
A brief silence settled in.
“What’s a cave popper?” Tala piped from the back. At that moment, a familiarly deep voice sounded from behind her. It almost reminded one of dark chocolate.
“You must mean Cavehopper, Lucy.”
Everyone turned their heads as the big, black, fluffy figure of Uncle Gryph--who had been listening to all they had been saying--emerged from the back. He was often particularly gentle with little Lucy, knowing how easily intimidated she was. “It’s a type of bird,” he continued. “They follow a specific migration path. Since their main food source is found in caves, they travel from one cave to the next, beginning at a specific group of caves and ending at their destination. To find Timko, Lucy needs to show us which direction the Cavehopper flew from. If we follow that--assuming that it flew in a straight line--we should find our missing Timko.”
A chorus of “oohs” sounded from the pups, and they all turned towards Lucy to find out which direction the bird came from.
“That way…um, no…that way!” Lucy first gestured to the West, but with a sudden realization pointed east. They nominated Morgryph as their official “Fellowship Leader.” To this he smirked in reply, both out of politeness and relief. No pup should journey to the mountains without adult supervision, he thought. Then, deciding that they would recruit members on the way, at last they began their adventure. Many cheers and songs were heard from all around the area, so it wasn’t long before they found their first recruit.
Event starts now! Simply reply with a die roll and your part of the story.

jhyhO|NeThat dreary morning, Goldie was curled up beneath the pretty white flowers of a Venus Dogwood tree, a flat, smooth rock before her. Here was where she was organizing and writing her letters--as the unofficial Lunaryk messenge-deliverer (a very prestigious title), the pups paid her with candy, flowers, and other small trinkets to deliver secret messages to their comrades. On most days she'd be working indoors, but the rain had brought such fresh air that she decided to write outdoors today. Being a bit shy, the gryphon only looked up in surprise as a parade of screaming creatures raced past her workspace. With her fluffy fur as white as the flowers she lay curled up beneath, Misty almost missed her. But at the last moment, the orange pup looked over, and nearly slipped on the muddy ground. "Goldie!" she cried with glee, not noticing her stumble. "You know all about letters, right?!" The gryphon stared with big golden eyes. "Well, er... Yes?" "Great!" The pup bounded over with a big grin. "That'll come in handy for... uh... reasons I don't know yet! C'mon, we gotta find Timko!" "Who is--" Before Goldie knew what was happening, papers were flying, and she was being pulled along by the overactive pup. The snowy gryphon wasn't quite sure what was going on, but she figured it best to just run with Misty and not ask too many questions. (Sorry if I did it wrong XD)

6NpzcZ5oMana's Pack of Peculiar Critters were in a rousing game of tag with one another when the cheering and singing started a ways away. As everyone froze, Kinoki, Faolan, and Tucker decided to run and check out what was going on. Tucker ran up to one of his friends in the pack, "What's going on?" He asked her. "Morgryff is leading an adventure!" She sang and ran off. "An adventure?" Faolan said in surprise. "Guys, an adventure!" Kinoki ran over to Lucy, knowing him and his brothers needed answers. "Lucy, what kind of an adventure?" "We are going to save someone, she... or he... sent us a note!" Lucy responded excitedly. "Choose someone from your pack to come!" "I want to go on an adventure!" Tucker and Faolan both cheered at the same time. Kinoki also wanted to go, but didn't know how to choose. He led his brothers over to Gracie, who everyone knew was smartest in their pack. "Gracie, who should go on the adventure? All three of us want to go, but only one of us should." Kinoki asked his older sister. Gracie thought for a second, "Lanny, I know you love adventures, but you've already been on one when you went to find St. Patrick. And you go to visit him a lot. I think you can sit this one out." Faolan ducked his head and Bridget came up to him and gave him a critter snuggle, "It's OK Bridey, I know Gracie is right." "Now Tucker, aren't you an apprentice right now?" Gracie asked. "Yeah..." Tucker said slowly, knowing where Gracie was going with this. "Well, I think you should keep working, if you want to be a warrior you should keep training." Tucker nodded and shrugged, running to join back in with the game of tag. "Kinoki, you are our Alpha, so I think you are right to go." "Thanks Gracie, I'll see you all when we return!" Kinoki ran back to join Lucy and the rest of the adventurers. "Alright guys! I am ready for an adventure!"

akfUBIi|(sih - lah - thee - el, or Silthie for short) In a little cave snoozed a navy-blue dragon named Siladhiel, who was curled up underneath a narrow tunnel she had dug. For several days she had been stuck there due to the rain, and every time she tried to leave to go back home she was pulled back into her shelter like a magnet from the raging wind. Being a cold-blooded animal she lost body heat very easily, so she was left with nothing to do but lay there like an ice cube in a refrigerator. Once the sun had finally left its hiding place she still slept, unaware that the light of day even existed anymore. It took a fellowship of four wolves, a gryphon, and a unicorn to snap her back to reality. The company marched right past Silthie's cave, and upon hearing all the hullabaloo she woke up with a start. Then, as if she were still in a dream, she poked her silvery antlers out from the tunnel and saw--at long last--the light of day! She blinked her emerald eyes in the sunlight. But it wasn't long before she shrunk back into her cave as a black-and-white wolf pup ran right past her. "Alright guys! I am ready for an adventure!" He called. Siladhiel poked her head out of the cave again. "Where are you going?" She said. There was always an unquenchable curiosity that highlighted her voice, which may be why it usually sounded a bit parched. "An adventure!" Lucy neighed in her quiet way, rearing up a bit on her hind legs. Silthie was always up for adventures, so as the fellowship passed she quietly followed behind Kinoki. Then Goldie's big, bushy tail caught her interest, and without realizing she found herself inching closer to it. It was so volumously fluffy, she mused--like a feather duster. It intrigued her so much that before she knew it, she had bumped right into Goldie's tail.

NrqDdzL8Gandalf had the shutters of his house wide open as he cooked up a storm. The rain had kept him inside, he wasn't a fan of getting wet, however he did love the smell the earth yielded after a good rain. The fire elemental Dragon had made his house from piled up stones because living in a tree or under the ground you there is a constant hazard of it catching on fire. He paused as he was stirring his beef stroganoff when a loud commotion of wolves, Griffins, and unicorns clamored on by with songs of adventure. Spotting Misty among the chaos, he hid the cookies.... not a whole lot of good that'll do given the pup's keen smell to anything chocolate chipped and baked. He heard a commotion as the string of creatures passed. Leaning out the window, he spotted Lucy, Goldie and others that he had yet to become friends with. One of these creatures, a dragon like him but blue instead of black and red-gold had ran into poor Goldie's tail. It was at this point that the orange and grey pup stuck her nose in the air, whipped around and bounded on over, skidding to a halt nearly nose to nose with the Dragon. "Gandalf! We're going on an adventure. Someone named Timko needs our help and we're going to find him.... or her and bring them back from the mountains. You should come, and bring snacks!" The pup grinned, her tail wiggling in such excitement her back end danced. Gandalf tilted his head. "That is a big group... and whoever it is must be cold and hungry if they are lost. Let me get a couple baskets together and I'll be right behind you!" He said with his usual ear to ear grin. The pup nodded and went to inform the adult Griffin that yet another was joining the "Fellowship" party. After a quick rush around his home, the Dragon packed sandwiches, canteens of hot soup, sweet treats and hot cocoa into a large satchel and a basket rushing out the door. He hesitated not wanting to leave the mess of dishes in his house, but the party was already way passed him. With a determined and irritated snort he shook his head. A new friend was in trouble. No time for hesitation. With that Gandalf half ran half glided into the party right behind Morgryff to ask him to carry the bag of food, it being to heavy for the little dragon and made his belly drag the ground.

There's adventure afoot!
The autumn air rustled through the woods, fiery with the warm colors of red and orange despite the chill. It seemed the forest was alive, for the sun was bright and the sound of cheers and songs and laughter filled the air. A squirrel quickly stuffed his acorn into a pile of leaves and scampered up a tree just as the source of the sing-song was spotted. From safe within the branches the squirrel chattered at the critters that rushed passed with excitement; a big, black wolf towered over a parade of wolf pups, dragons, and a gryphon. It was quite a funny site to see, and the only grown-up in the group would have agreed. Morgryff, the “grown-up” and leader of the Fellowship, observed his happy companions with a sort of distant interest, for he was, at the moment, more focused on which way the group was going, and on making sure none of Gandalf’s supplies fell out of the basket. The had traveled about twenty dashes east so far, following the straight route of the Cavehopper bird, supposedly, and that made sense to the learned Alpha, for they were very predictable birds and relied on a strict migration pattern.
“Uncle Gryph!” The wolf turned his nose down to meet Misty’s, and smiled a bit, for the little pup was grinning so widely, and her cheeriness reminded him of what Aunt Nalli, his mate, had told him before they left. ‘It’s a good vacation, dear; and Misty so values your guidance.’“Yes Misty?” “Do you think Timko is a boy’s name, or a girl’s name? We can’t decide.” “Tim-kooo,” Lucy mused from behind, nearly like a little hiccup. “A boy’s, most likely,” he replied. Misty nodded, seemingly in agreement, “Our first clue decipheled- and what do you think Timko is? This is such a mystery!” Morgryph chuckled a bit and looked up again, above the trees and towards the direction of the mountains, as if by looking at them he would get a hint as to what this lost critter exactly was. “Well, that is hard to say, because we know very little of the creatures that live in the mountains,” Morgryph said, and was silent for some time. One could hear the lively bubble of a river up ahead now. “But,” the wolf continued, “as we get closer we may discover more of these ‘clues’, though,” he added, now under his breath, “I do have a guess-“ But he was not heard, for by now the trees had scattered and the soft sound of the breeze was interrupted, by the loud rush of flowing water. The Fellowship had been following the Babbly Brooke from a distance, but it was no longer a trickling, bubbling brook, but a pulsing, roaring river. Morgryph stopped, and Lucy bumped into Kinoki. Misty padded up to the river bank, tail wagging softly behind her, “Looks like our Babbly Brooke is now the Screaming Stream,” she giggled to herself, “what do you say Cap’m Gryph?” The older wolf didn’t say anything at first, for he took a few steps off of the bank and into the water, until it tickled his belly fur, and was nearly halfway across. He turned around to look at his young adventurers, scrutinized them carefully, and decided, with a gentle but firm tone, like a father; “It’s safe; the water feels good and the current isn’t so strong for your wings and paws.” “And hooves?” Lucy piped. She was sitting in the leaves, now, and looked so small, and shivered a bit, that Morgryph came up to her and looked at her for a moment. “It’s too loud,” the unicorn fawn continued, her big ears drooping, “and s-scary.” “Don’t worry little friend, I can carry you,” he said, and bent his legs to the ground. He smiled at her. One would never think a tiny unicorn fawn would trust a huge Alpha wolf, but Lucy did trust Morgryph very much. Misty, who had been in the water, went back to her friend, determined to help her feel braver. “You can do it, Lucy! You’ll hold on tight, and Uncle Gryph will be super careful, and—“ she looked at the rest of the Fellowship, “we can sing you a song on the way! That always helps me when I’m scared.” Lucy perked up at that idea. So, she climbed onto Morgryph’s furry back, and closed her eyes as the big wolf carefully raised himself. Misty didn’t waste a moment, and raced back into the water as she called to her friends. “Jump in, everybuddy! Let’s sing another song!” The Fellowship has to cross the river! In your part of the story, include the song title and artist of a song you think would help Lucy brave the river.

Siladhiel watched as Lucy clambered onto Morgryff's big, furry back. She wondered how it felt to be on there, and if his fur was really as soft as it looked. At first the dragon began to wish in vain that she could have a ride, too. But then she saw how much Lucy trembled as Morgryff took the first step into the roaring water, and quickly changed her mind.
Poor Lucy, Silthie mused. She must've felt like a vibrating massager to Uncle Gryph, judging by how much she shivered on his back. But the wolf never tripped or jerked even once, and lifted each paw with such precision that even a horse might've envied him. It was interesting to see the contrast between Morgryph, the ginormous, black Alpha, and Lucy, the little, spindly-legged unicorn fawn. Imagine slipping off that great wolf's back and splashing into the pulsing water below. It seemed as though Lucy was indeed imagining it, judging by how she squeezed Morgryph's sides so tightly with her legs. You could almost see her chest rise and fall with her heavy breathing.
Siladhiel's train of thought was interrupted when Misty announced that they would be singing another song. Lucy's face lit up at the idea, and so did Silthie's. She pushed herself off the ground with her hind legs and took great, big flaps to try and catch up to the unicorn. However, what was supposed to be a graceful landing resulted in a plunge, a minute of sputtering, and a very soggy dragon. But she managed to get up just as the Fellowship started to sing "I Can Go the Distance" by Roger Bart, a song which she almost instantly recognized. It was, without a doubt, very enlivening to hear that choir of scaly, furry, and feathered singers as they marched across the brook. It was also quite amusing, though. All of their voices were so different, but Lucy didn't seem to notice. She was still too shaken to join in, though her spirits had greatly improved--until the song ended, and she began to think of the scary water that rushed beneath her.

Water. Of course it had to be water. The poor dragon was with Lucy on this one, the river was terrifying and the dragon's claws where stuck to the bank. Gandalf didn't even like getting baths, and only thing he didn't mind wet was his claws. His ears twitched as he faintly herd Misty suggest that they all sing songs and jump in to help the timid unicorn across. That was fine and all, but he was too scared to speak up to say that he may need help across too and was in fact backing away from the river until his tail bumped a tree. He tucked his wings over his head as the song from Hercules was starting to be sung. His trembling ebbed slightly but returned in full force once it stopped. He peeked out between his wings, seeing Lucy in the middle of the river looking on the verge of tears having opened their eyes to see if they were across yet. This sight made sparks shoot from his claws as he gathered up his own courage to help his friend.
He started singing Through Heaven's Eyes by K-Ci and JoJo from his favorite show Prince of Egypt. It was up beat and soon the dragon was hopping up and down on the bank, still refusing to touch the water but singing on the top of his lungs the song he knew by heart. Hopefully this would help Lucy a little more.

"Ooch!" Kinoki yelped as Morgryff stopped and the pup got sandwiched between the older wolf and Lucy. Kinoki personally didn't mind water, living with a snow elemental he ended up getting wet while playing tag a lot, but he could see how scared Lucy was. He nuzzled her with his side reassuringly just before she got on Morgryff's back, barking up, "You've got this Lucy!".
He held back for a bit, not because he was scared, but because he was used to being his pack's "alpha" and figured someone bold and strong should take up the rear, and of course, that meant him. He sang along with the two songs happily, knowing that music made anything better. Kinoki bounded around with Gandalf as the dragon sang the rousing song, joining in on the chorus. He had seen Gandalf shy away from the water, and knew what was going on, he had never seen the firey dragon out when it rained, it wasn't hard for Kinoki to put 2 and 2 together, obviously, that made 5. At least he thinks that's what Gracie had told him...
Once Gandalf's song finished the rest of the group was about halfway across. He started singing "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten, but stopped once the others had picked it up. "Hey Gandalf, are you ready to cross?" Kinoki asked, knowing what the dragon would say. "You know, you don't even have to get wet, don't forget, you can fly across! Silthie fell on purpose, she wanted to be by Lucy." He froze for a second, realizing his mistake. Just because his sister dragon, Torrey, could fly, with others on her back even, doesn't mean all dragons could fly. "You can fly, can't you Gandalf?"

Gandalf looked at his claws. "I can glide and fly short distances, but that looks too far. I never really learned how to fly properly. I don't have a group of creatures to teach me how too." He said softly looking at the river nervously. "But I know how to climb. With the songs, it'll calm me and I can climb up a tree and probably glide across. Do you think you can help me with that?" He asked softly tilting his head.

Siladhiel followed by Morgryph and Lucy as the Fellowship sang song after song, splashing contently in the Babbly Brook. She stopped all of a sudden as Kinoki asked Gandalf if he was ready to cross, and only now began to notice how awfully blue the black-and-gold dragon looked. That was one of the first times she realized that not everyone liked water. It always hit her like a pillow on the head, and her ears drooped back a bit as this sad reality sunk in.
In dismay, Gandalf explained that he could only fly or glide short distances; however, he could make it if he climbed a tree and glided across from there. The songs would help him, he went on to say. Silthie perked up a bit when she heard this. With slightly-less-than-due caution, she clambered across the water back to the shore to assure him, "We'll sing all day if we have to--if you'd like--just as long as you cross." Then with a sliver of mischief in her smile, she looked behind her, hid her mouth behind her paw as if she was telling Gandalf a secret, and whispered, "I actually can't fly well either--or, I can, but my wings are still too small for me to fly very well." Then she padded back to the river, and the Fellowship began to sing "On My Way" from Brother Bear, one of Silthie's favorite travel songs. Morgryff, with Lucy on her back, was now just about to reach the shore.

"Well then!" Kinoki said, perking himself up. "Torrey will teach you when we get home, I know she'd be happy to help. Even if your wings are too small now, she could get you started." He liked Gandalf's idea of climbing and gliding. He listened to Silthie as she spoke, nodding and joining in with "On My Way", a song he too loved.
He bounded to a tree that seemed tall and strong enough for the dragon to use. "Alright, come on Gandalf, try this one." He looked across the river where Morgryff was now growing... growing? No, Kinoki shook himself at his momentary stupidity, of course he was just climbing up the shore. "We don't want to wait too long, we want to use all the daylight we can." He playfully tried the climb up the tree and fell down quickly. "Well, I guess I'll stick with crossing the wet way." He laughed, hoping it would lighten the mood and help distract Gandalf.

There's adventure afoot!
If it were not for the friends she was with, Lucy would never have made it across the river. Their cheerful songs of encouragement (especially “Look Through Heaven’s Eyes”, which Gandalf suggested) kept her holding on tightly to Morgryph’s furry back, and soon she was on dry ground- shivering, but happy. She had never done anything like that before. The last time she had faced her fears was when she met Misty, Morgryph, and the other wolves of the Lunaryk Pack. Not that the meeting was a trifle; on the contrary, it changed the little unicorn’s life, but that is a story for another day. Today—that is, the day Misty and her friends’ new adventure began—was now drawing to a close. The warm light of the afternoon sun started to dim, but the fellowship didn’t seem too tired. They were having fun praising each other for their bravery at the river and laughing at their new memories as they marched through the woods. In particular, they discussed the possibility of forming a traveling singing group. Before they knew it, they had covered another thirty dashes. Morgryph, being responsible for all his “young adventurers”, as he called them, figured it was time for his fellowship to rest for the night. “Alright, everyone,” he said, turning around and setting Gandalf’s basket of food on the ground-he had been carrying it most of the way. “Let’s stop here and take shelter for the night.” Misty looked up and around, a little perplexed, for there didn’t seem to be a den of any kind around, but this only lasted a moment, as she looked at the eager faces of her friends and grinned back at them. “Uncle Gryph, do you think we should scout and look for a shelter?” “And make dinner.” Lucy added, eyes twinkling as she sat beside Goldie. Morgryph nodded, pleased that the little critters were taking initiative. “Don’t go too far.” Misty yipped in agreement and dashed away, presumably in search of someplace cozy and warm to camp in. The Fellowship needs to find shelter! Work together to find a warm, cozy place to stay, or help Lucy make dinner!
1 Bonus points go to EbonyNight for choosing Lucy's favorite song! (These adventures will often include chances for bonus points ^^)
RULE CHANGE:
30 dashes will now be needed to introduce the next prompt. ^^

Siladhiel raised her head--which was previously shaking side to side in an attempt to get the remaining water off--when Misty asked if they could scout and look for shelter. A smile of delight crept up on her face when Morgryff agreed, and she followed behind the eager wolf pup blithely. At first the search was very pleasant, and Silthie looked through every cave, hole, crevice, and tree (you never know when the opportunity to make a treehouse arises) with an excitement that was evident in her playful frolic and lolling tongue. But either the tree was too tall, the crevice was too tight, the hole was too dingy, or the cave was filled with long-legged spiders that danced in alarm when they saw you enter. This last instance scared the life out of poor Silthie, who ran back to Misty after squeaking in fright.
Then she had an idea; why not make a hut? She had never made one before, but she was sure that one of her new friends would help her if they couldn't find a shelter either. "Want to make a hut?" Silthie asked as she returned to the base, so caught up in her ideating that she almost ran into Morgryff. Her eyes were wide with expectation.

Gandalf took a deep breath and dug his claws into the bark scaling the tree. As he slowly placed one paw in front of the other heading to the edge of the highest sturdy branch he could find, the adult wolf was already walking through the shallows to the opposite shore. Swaying as the end of the branch sagged slightly under his weight, the dragon focused on the song and the air ahead of him, tuning out the roar of the water.
He leaped from the branch, spreading his black and firework colored wings as far as he could gliding across. "Look Lucy! I'm doing it! I can be brave like you t-" his temporary distraction caused his tail to waggle with glee, and thus as the rudder sent him swerving nose first into a trunk of a willow. Strips of willow bark curled off the poor tree as his claws slowed his descent by digging into the bark.
Once his back claws made contact with the soil, he let go of the tree, shook himself and rubbed his snout tenderly before joining the others.
---
When they had stopped for the night Gandalf went around collecting twigs and dry branches setting up a little fire pit with stones around the pile. "I'll help with dinner! I can start a fire too! " He said with his trademark grin as he scratched his claws on some stones, making sparks and flinging them at the tinder, fanning with a wing until they caught. He waited until there was a steady burn going. He could always move the fire when they find a place to sleep. "Let's see, should we heat up some of the meals I brought or save those for later?"

As soon as she saw that warm, welcoming fire that Gandalf had made, Siladhiel's attention was immediately set on this newfound source of heat. "Fire!" Her face lit up with delight as she trotted right up to it. Only now did she notice the chilly breeze that nipped at her toes, but already she could feel the warmth of the fire soaking into her scales. With a smile of sheer comfort, she delicately wrapped her tail around her legs.
It was only when she heard the familiar, rather high-pitched voice of Misty that she was snapped out of her trance. "I'll help you!" The wolf pup announced with glee as she half-ran, half-walked over to the fire. Then Siladhiel remembered what she had been doing before she got distracted; she had been asking if anyone wanted to build a hut with her.
Silthie smiled at Misty, grateful that she had accepted her request. “Okay, then!” She said, and was just about to get a head start towards the forest when she suddenly stopped in her tracks. Turning her head towards Lucy and Gandalf she said, a little sheepishly, “Thanks for getting dinner ready! Those pack dinners you brought look tasty, Gandalf.” Shortly afterward she broke into a trot, a canter, and finally a run, and set out into the thicket as swiftly as a reindeer.
It was there that she and Misty searched for sticks to make the hut with. Everything was going well, and the two of them frisked from tree to tree and bush to bush like a pair of jackrabbits. Then, as Silthie was running towards a particular branch that looked just right, she found herself swerving just an inch out of reach of a huge, gaping hole.
"Shelter, maybe?" Siladhiel said to herself after a short pause. She peered into the pit. Why, it wasn't just a pit; it was also a cave, and it seemed to have enough room for the whole fellowship to fit in. A rocky, moss-covered slope leading into the cave acted as a great “staircase” to climb in and out, what’s more. Silthie expected to see nothing but solid darkness in the mouth of the cave. However, as she looked closer she noticed a faint, blue light glowing within it.
Though the light in the cave perplexed her, it intrigued her more than anything else, and it tugged on her curiosity so badly. She climbed down the slope of the pit, and—slip! Down she slid, landing on all fours right at the mouth of the cave. She got up, shook the dust off her scales, and walked onward. A long, wide tunnel stretched before her, studded with stalagmites and stalactites. The tunnel ended in a large, roomy part of the cave, with a pool right in the middle. It seemed that the pool was the source of the light, along with hundreds of tiny glow worms that flecked the dark walls of the cave like stars. Silthie wanted so very, very much to share this with the others, but first she wanted to find out why the pool was glowing. She threw a rock in, shielding herself with her wing as soon as the splash greeted her. It felt like normal water. It...tasted like normal water when she licked it. But when she crept to the edge of the pool to see if her rock had already sunk, the rock was nowhere to be found. It was as if it had disappeared. She did the same thing with sticks, but the results were always the same. They would just disappear as soon as they hit the water.
Siladhiel’s eyes widened when she had a sudden idea; what if this was a portal? She backed away from the pool slowly, dazed with wonder at the thought, before running back through the tunnel from which she came to tell the others. She scrambled up the slope she had previously slid down and half flew, half ran all the way back to the base.
“Guys! Guys! I found a—” Silthie stopped all of a sudden to take in a deep breath she had been resisting. “—I found a cave. And a pool. It's glowy! Come see!”

Gandalf groaned at the word 'pool'. He heaved a sigh, stirring the soup that was just starting to get warm. Then after seeing the excitement on the faces of the rest of the fellowship, he decided to break out the big words and book smarts. "Forgive me if I do not share your delight in this pool of water you found. I had enough for one day and am still concerned about the way back over the river. This fluorescent cave pool sounds interesting but I rather stay here and dry." Clearly he wasn't over nose planting into a tree after trying to glide over the river earlier.
Gandalf didn't a kleptic family like misty and the others, nor did he really know everyone here. He wasn't good with names outside of book characters and recipes. His face was in a uncharacteristic frown as he snorted smoke. He was tired and hungry, he didn't even finish his breakfast this morning before getting sidetracked by cleaning. So going off to see this pool of water (which by now they should have gotten the idea he wasn't quite fond of) didn't sound so adventures as it did reckless. He turned back to his soup and continued to stir it regularly. "I'll stay here. The rest of you can go. " He said softly, his temper obviously not one to last very long, yet his ear fins lay flat like he was forlorn about something. Though even that didn't last long as he started to humm his favorite song again, tapping his tail to the beat to chase away his gloomyness.

Kinoki ran to the cave with Silthie and looked in. "Wow!" He said, "That's amazing. What's further do you think?"

Ever since she discovered the portal, Siladhiel could think of almost nothing else but how she so very much wanted everyone to see her new discovery. Perhaps, she thought, they would be filled with that same wonder she experienced. How could she not want to show them the big cave, with its pretty glow-worms, huge stalactites, and best of all the...
Silthie's face suddenly fell when she noticed Gandalf, who seemed to be stirring the soup with much heavier movements than before. She couldn't understand why, until he explained his reasons for staying behind. Her ears drooped back as she tried to think of something to say.
It was only when a low, gurgling growl rolled across her stomach that she was forced to get out of her little bubble of thoughts and ideas and start looking at the more practical side of things...like dinner.
Dinner. She had forgotten about that. A slight shudder came down when she realized how scatter-brained it was of her to run in and tell everyone to come see her discovery, not thinking to consider how worn out the others must've been. And if she was hungry, imagine how hungry everyone else was--not to mention Morgryff, with his stomach roughly the size of Siladhiel herself. On top of that, it dawned on her that not everyone would be quite as enthusiastic for an evening splash as she was, especially Lucy and Gandalf. With this in mind, she quickly settled back into reality.
"...Or maybe we could eat first," she said. Really she wanted to bring the soup with them through the portal and, once they found Timko, have dinner with him. But she didn't know how portals worked, and figured that the soup might spill on the way through. And somehow the idea of jumping into a portal with a pot of boiling soup didn't seem like the safest option.
Kinoki was the first to get up and, to Silthie's great delight, seemed to be quite eager to see the cave. She thought it best for someone else to see where the cave was before it got too dark, so she decided to go and show him. However, before taking off she stopped in her footsteps with a sudden thought, trotted over to Gandalf, and said--though a bit hesitantly--"If you'd like, I can stay with you. Maybe it wouldn't worry Morgryff as much if two of us stayed behind." And with that, she ran with Kinoki to the cave.
The wolf's shared fascination gave Silthie a new enthusiasm. "That's amazing. What's further, do you think?" He asked.
Silthie was only too glad to reply, "Oh, there's a long tunnel with stalag--stal--stalactites, and stalagmites, too. Then there's a big, roomy part of the cave. The walls have so many glow worms it looks like they're covered with stars, and in the center there's a big, glowy pool. I think it's a portal."

There's adventure afoot!
Morgryff listened intently at Silthie, smiling a bit at her excitement. However, at the word “glowy”, his eyes widened, his black ears stiffened, and he stopped Silthie before she could run off again. “It glowed? What color?” “Blue!” Silthie said, skipping in place. As Gandalf groaned, Morgryff thought. Could those still exist? Perhaps, if Superiors still do…though they are growing more rare. Nonetheless, this could mean a shortcut to the mountains. No, not just a shortcut—it could mean a greater adventure than any of us were expecting. “I’ll stay here. The rest of you can go,” Gandalf called as he stirred his soup, which was beginning to smell irresistible. His forlorn expression was understandable. Morgryff had watched the little dragon brave the river, and figured his nose may still be sore. Still, as he looked up at the growing twilight, Morgryff grew concerned for Misty, who had not come back with Silthie. “You may wait here if you wish, but the pool may not be water at all, Gandalf.” … Earlier, before the sun hid itself behind the mountains, Misty spent a good while with her nose to the ground, dutifully sniffing out the perfect set of sticks for the fire. She took no notice of Silthie’s surprised squeak, for the little dragon ventured deeper into the brush and was too far to be heard. After a long moment of silence--for even the crickets had stopped chirping--Misty looked up, stick clenched between her teeth, and scanned the forest for her friend. “Siffy?” Misty grunted, taking a few steps forward, then backward. She turned around, dropped her stick, and called again, “Silthie? Wher’d you go?” Realizing that the dragon was nowhere nearby, the puppy sat down—as she liked to do when given something to ponder—and thumped her tail for a little while. “Where do you think Silthie went?” She asked a doodlebug. It didn’t answer her directly, but she watched it crawl around underneath dewy leaves and over rocks for some time, until the little bug’s path took it to an obstacle that made both it and the puppy think, because it was a rather large stick that had the bite marks of a dragon hatchling. “Hey, thanks little buddy, we’ve found a clue!” Misty said with a grin, jumping up. She took a wiff of the stick, sneezed because it smelled like bugs, and followed its scent to wherever it would lead. While Silthie, back with the Fellowship, was explaining her discovery, Misty was skipping through the woods with her nose to the ground, eager to find her friend, who was further than she thought. This eager search continued for some time, until the sky above her suddenly darkened, as if the lights were switched off, and she tumbled forward with a yelp. She couldn’t catch herself, for as her paws scrambled for a grip, she bounced upon each step. Her ears perked up and she shook herself up once her paws felt solid ground. The puppy stood perplexed as she looked up and about, observing the damp, cramped space she had slipped into. It was a cave, of sorts, and it smelled funny. Silthie was nowhere to be found, though she could smell that she had been there. What she did find, though, enraptured her curiosity, for before her rounded eyes and flicking ears, she peered into the depths of the tunnel and eyed the mysterious blue glow. She was drawn to it in the hope that it was Silthie’s blue scales reflecting off of the sun, but when she neared, what she hoped would be Silthie flattened and liquefied into a pool of blue, glowing water. “Oooooh,” She gasped, grinning. “I gotta find Uncle Gryph and the others! This would be an aweshome place to camp out!” She yipped to herself, inching closer to the pool. Her large front paws pushed a rock into the water, and to her amazement, it disappeared completely. “Woah! This is-“ She stopped short, for at that moment she heard Silthie’s and Kinoki’s voices up above her at the entrance to the cave. In her excitement, she spun around, caught her back paw under a root, and fell backwards. Light filled her vision, she squeezed her eyes shut, and disappeared into the pool. Misty has fallen through the mysterious blue pool! What does it lead to? Maybe Timko is on the other side!
All posts after this one get FIVE bonus points. Will your character go through the portal? What's on the other side? Why is there never time for dinner on adventures? !!1? This is the LAST prompt before the grand reveal!
Note: Please do not post as Timko, but if you wish you can build up to the grand reveal. ^^

"Misty!" Kinoki called as he saw his fellow pup disappear. "Misty?! Morgryff, Misty fell in! She's drowning!" He couldn't let Misty drown, so he ran into the cave, not caring if it was safe or not. He put his right paw in the water, then realize it wasn't water at all. It was warm, and felt like a breeze around his paw. He gasped and pulled his paw out, "Morgryff, it isn't water!" He called. He thought for a split second. Deciding that the blue stuff felt nice, and he didn't want Misty to be alone, he jumped in, confident that Morgryff would find him. The light was so bright, but then it dimmed, and he was on flat ground again. He look around, "Misty?" He called, "Misty, are you OK?"
