People can give you them if you win things, you may get some on you birthday and a few other ways. I'm a newbie too so I'm not all knowledgeable yet x'D

I have a question: Earlier there was a Give and a Take button in the profile column where the avatar, Cookies, Stars, etc. is shown. It's not there now. Where did it go, and what did it do?

It's there for me. Those are karma cookies, the members give them on your birthday, randomly, or when you're a new member. I'll give you one now. *give karma cookie* You can call me Cookie! I'm cookiegr on babydow and howrse. You're just in time for the halloween events! Have fun! |

Sorry, but nope. ^-^' Karma cookies are different from cookie items. Karma cookies are just...Karma cookies. I usually give them to people when they just joined or when it's their birthday. :3
With cookie items are the cookies you can get a pup with. :}

Cookie items are different than karma cookies. Cookie already explained the karma cookies, but you can get cookie items on your birthday, if you win one in an event, or if Misty just wants to be nice (which doesn't happen often; they can't be too easy to get!). When you get three of those you get a pup.
