Hi there, Misty here.
Master left her laptop open in the middle of the room, so after a half-hour of wriggling and pawing at the broken zipper of her suitcase I’ve finally squirmed my way out of the travel-box and got my paws on the keyboard. She’s eating dinner right now, watching Big Hero Six, so she’s happy as a clam.
Where did that expression come from anyway? All the clams I’ve met are so somber.
Of course, all the clams I’ve met have been dead.
My plush form has been in the travel-box for a while. Luckily, I’m a character, so I want to tell you about what happened today back home while Master was in the car trying to convince herself that the baked potato chips she was eating were real Pringles.
Today Bear’s grandamma turned fifty! I suppose that doesn’t sound too old if you’re a two-legged, but for a four-legged that’s the human equivalent of an 80’s classic. Anyway, Bear’s granny, or omma in Lunarkian, is one of my favorite gryphons in the world. Sometimes I like to pretend she’s my omma too, since I don’t think my real Omma would mind (I make sure to give her fresh flowers from Amma’s garden every week so she doesn’t get jelly, heehee).
So today Bear, being the eldest grandcub, and I, being her only grandpup, took it upon ourselves to make Omma something super special for her birthday. We accepted a very important quest; we were going to make her a cake.
I had just seen Master make a cake, how hard could it have been?
I remembered all the ingredients Master used. We got the eggs, the flowers, honey… we couldn’t find any butter in the woods, so we figured if we mushed up enough berries and added a little protein it would serve the same function and add a nice flavor- bug berry…yum!
Anyway, once we collected all the ingredients we couldn’t find a bowl to use, but Bear figured that if we dug a hole in the dirt it would work ok.
He’s pretty smart. But he’s ten years old, so that’s probably why. I feel like once you get to the double digits your brain cells multiply faster.
Ehem, back to baking. Needless to say, after mixing all the ingredients together, and baking it in the sun for about an hour, we ended up with a pretty inedible mud-cake. I was kind of disappointed at first. I looove mud-cakes, but me and Bear had tried so hard to make it edible. But, when we presented our gift to Omma, she laughed and gave me and Bear a big, feathery hug.
I’m really happy she liked it. Even so, next time I think I’m going to borrow Master’s oven.
Speaking of Master, I gotta go!
Signed,
