(OOC: Okie doke!)
Amaris sat up and stretched her sore muscles. That memory had continued to haunt her in her sleep, and the more she woke up from it in terror, the harder it was to go back to sleep. Eventually she just decided to give up and stared blankly at the ceiling for a while. But, she decided that she should at least do something, so she grabbed her bow and arrows and silently snuck out through Mitzu’s tunnel. Amaris often went hunting when she had a lot on her mind, and when she didn’t have anything to hunt, she would shoot at the trees until they were covered with marks.
When she stepped outside into the fresh morning air, she found that it wasn’t as early as she thought. The sun was just awakening from its slumber, but hadn’t quite risen yet. *Beat you to it.* she thought as she looked at the sun with squinted eyes. The hint of a smile crept up on her face, and the dream, along with the events of yesterday, were all but forgotten.
Suddenly, she heard rustling. In one swift motion she drew out an arrow and set it on the bow, standing her ground as she glanced from side to side in alarm. Her cheeriness had gone, with her somber, petulant self left to take over.
Out popped a rabbit, which quickly scurried off before Amaris could shoot it. She gave a sigh of both relief--for finding that it was only a rabbit--and annoyance, for not being quick enough to shoot it.
"Focus, Amaris." She told herself as she picked up her arrow. She drew a deep breath, then quickly, but quietly, ran off to search for more prey.

Nikolai woke up to the bleak rays of sunlight that were coming from the horizon. The sun hadn't completely shown itself, and so he figured that it was still early morning. His groggy self tried to sit up only to suddenly feel pain stab him all over his body - to which the memories of yesterday came flooding back to him like a tidal wave. We were attacked, he had thought bitterly, Altan is dead.
He glanced at the bandages wrapped around his arms and waist as if to make sure he wasn't in some sort of nightmare before letting out a sigh. He wondered if Amaris was still sleeping, or maybe she might've gone out without him noticing? He couldn't be sure. Nevertheless, he figured that staying here wouldn't really be of help to them, so if he could just manage to get himself to walk, he figured that he would be able to make it to town and find some friends that would be fine with taking care of him until he could really get on his own two feet once more. Really, he had to start thinking about all of the items he had lost in that attack - and while he didn't bring any money with him at the time (it was probably still in his home, to which he hoped that he securely locked), he had lost a few of his more valuable possessions. Where had his sword flew off to when the monster had struck him so savagely? And he had been carrying his favourite bag that he was hoping to fill with plants and other knickknacks that he would've found that day.
What a twisted turn of events. It was supposed to be just a normal day.
Nikolai tried to turn his body to the side so that he can place his feet on the floor. Upon doing so, he realised that the dragon that was with Amaris was still sleeping beside the bed. Hm, one wrong move and he could wake Mitzu up, and while the dragon wouldn't attack him or anything (he hoped), he may still prevent him from leaving.
Carefully, the boy put weight on his own two feet, but he already found himself wincing as he tried to stand up from the bed. Biting his lip, he soon managed to get himself to be upright, but as soon as he took another step, his legs buckled and he found himself falling on top of Mitzu -

Mitzu's eyes snapped open in alarm as he felt something fall on top of him. He raised his head to find that the same boy he saw yesterday had fallen--and lucky for him (or maybe not so lucky for him), on Mitzu, who Amaris often described as a giant pillow (literally, she would often use him as one). He stared at him for a while, not exactly sure what to think.
...Perhaps he wanted to play? Playing sounded like a good option, so Mitzu sat up eagerly, not exactly thinking beforehand that the boy would fall on the floor if he did that. He jumped up onto the ceiling joists, hanging upside down with his tail coiled around it in a bat-like matter as he waited for the human to do something.
Meanwhile, completely unaware of Mitzu or Nikolai's current doings, Amaris was starting to get desperate. No animals were coming, and she had lost her chance with the rabbit. At this point, she had a feeling that she could cross Drachall and still find no prey. It was then that she noticed the ground rumbling. She turned her head in the direction of the noise, suddenly freezing in shock when she saw a brown wave approaching. She narrowed her eyes, trying to make out what it was. But when she noticed several antlers poking out, she instinctively jumped out of the way and drew out an arrow. Then, when the herd of deer was close enough, she released it. She thought it strange, however, that the deer weren't running away from her...They were running away from something else.
She let out a loud cough when the deer disappeared in the distance, leaving a giant cloud of dust behind. Though she had taken down a stag that still needed to be delt with, that wasn't important to her right now. She wanted to find out what those deer were running away from. Maybe another ichneumon? They seemed to be abundant that time of the year, so she wouldn't be surprised if it was.
She came to a sudden stop when she saw the edge of the island--which she had previously thought to be another lake--in the distance. "Impossible..." She whispered, going closer to get a better look. Sure, she knew she lived close to the Western Border and that she had been walking for quite some time now, but already reaching the border?
It was then that a small clump of land, only about an inch long, broke off. Amaris gasped, watching it fall into nothingness until it was completely out of site. She stood there for a while, her eyes still fixed on the spot where that fragment of land was. "...That just happened." she said, as if to convince the doubting part of her mind. She decided that she should go home when she remembered Nikolai was still there with Mitzu, and who knows what her dragon was doing to him. Then she remembered the deer she hunted. There was no way she was strong enough to carry it all the way back home as heavy as it was, and dragging it certainly wouldn't be the most efficient option ever. She decided it would be better to tend to the meat then and there or at least make it lighter to carry back, so she took out her knife with a sigh. *I wonder if they're even awake yet...Hopefully I won't be here for too long.*
