Q. "What is Misty n' Friends?"
A. Misty n' Friends is a blog, a virtual pet (adoptables) website, and a community run by me, Meesh and my wolf character, Misty. It's a fun little hobby of ours and a great way for me to practice art, writing, and web design, three things I love to do. The community I have created has become a place for people to enjoy the fruits of my labor and just have fun with the many chats, games and RPGs that the website provides. Misty n' Friends is based on the little pup's (Misty's) view of the
world, so it's open to a wide range of ages from 7 to 70. (: Me keeping it family-friendly is just a bonus for those who want a little break from the other not so nice places in cyberspace, and I plan to keep it that way!
Q. "How did Misty n' Friends start?"
A. It all started on a quiet evening on October 17th, 2010. I was feeling rather sickly and wanted to test out my new graphite pencil. So I told my little friend Misty my idea, she posed for me, I drew her, and Misty n' Friends was born!
Well...it sort of goes like that.
The newer, 2011 Misty n' Friends was started 1st of September, 2011. This version introduced the forum that you are on today. Much of the art was updated (i.e. Full backgrounds left us to replace single pictures and the lines were revamped) as well as how you adopted the pets. Overall MnF became more focused on the community.
On October 12th, 2013, MnF v3 was born! Yet another installment of my little hobby. I introduced a separate website, hosted on Weebly and made a few changes; new species were added, lines were changed, and the ways of adopting molded to fit the lives of busier people...or so I thought.
Then, two years later, in October 2016 after I entered college, got a job, and generally grew up and out of the virtual world, I decided MnF needed another update that I could really work with. So I got rid of the weebly website and simplified things, hoping to make MnF something that can help a lot of people see the beauty in the world around us, enjoy a kind community, and collect some cute little critters. :)
Q. "Who are you?"
A. I'm Meesh! (Or Mísh, if you're familiar with accents xD) I am a nineteen year old girl, Christian, and live somewhere in the USA. Because of safety I can't be more specific than that, but I can also tell you that I love art, writing, wolves, cookies and Cookie Monster. I'm a college student and have a part-time job, so I have a pretty busy schedule, but MnF has been a part of my life since I was twelve years old and I can't seem to give it up. I made MnF, so I'm the admin, but I also do most of the art, writing, designing and moderating, with a bit of help from our great staff team...and Misty, hehe. I guess you could say she's a part of me too. :)
Q. "Wait...who's Misty?"
A. Misty is a character of mine. She’s a seven year old wolf puppy with a thirst for adventure and a hunger for cookies! Misty is the mascot and "co-admin" of Misty n’ Friends (she's the puppy with the orange mask on the logo). The adoptables are named after her and if it wasn’t for Misty, there would be no such thing as Misty n’ Friends adoptables. She often goes on my accounts and posts for me, but that’s alright. I don’t mind. :3
Q. "How do I get a pet?"
A. You must first be a registered member of Misty n' Friends. After that, all adoptions are hosted in the Adoption Den, and each method (be it through a flat-sale, auction, event, etc.) has individual instructions within the thread. There are three adoption methods;
BIN Sales - Buy a pet with your Dirshe (MnF virtual currency) for a set price
Auctions - Bid for a pet with your Dirshe. Highest bid wins the pet!
Contests/games - Enter a contest or compete with the community in a fun challenge to win a pet for free!
Each method involves posting in the forum, be it a filled-out form, an entry for a contest, etc. Specific instructions will be provided within the thread. It's a fairly simple process.
Once you participate in one of these adoption methods I will then determine who gets the pet and, if that person is you, I will send you the adoption codes for your new pet!
Q. "How often can I adopt?"
A. Once a month I will put up a new pet (sometimes more than one) for adoption. This may vary, since I have school and work as my main priorities, but once or twice a month is the goal. In any case, you can adopt as often as you like! But you cannot win more than two pets in a row to be fair to the other users. So, for example, if you adopt a pet in January, and won a contest in February, you cannot get a new pet until someone else gets a pet. So if someone wins a pet in March, you can try again to adopt the next time a pet comes out.
Q. "So I know how to adopt, but when I get my pet, what do I do with it?"
A. You don't have to do anything. :) MnF pets are meant to be low maintenance adoptables. They do not need clicks or food to keep them happy, unlike some other websites. MnF adoptables are meant to be used as characters in your personal creative work (like RPGs, stories or art), or you can simply treat them as cute little collectible crittersand create an adorable army of seven-year-old, talking magical creatures for the world to admire.

Q. "So aside from wolves, what other critters can I adopt?"
A. As of MnF v3 (and all the versions after, haha), you can now adopt dragons, gryphons and unicorns! New species are introduced ever year or two. There are also sometimes other animals as well, like bunnies and mice, but you only see these with Furry Friends.
Q. "What do these adoptables look like?"
A. You can see a ton of examples in the Critter Caves! Including those from the very first sale! Mind you, they are quite embarrassing, but hey, I don't mind those of you who are curious. Just do not steal or use these images for yourself. I worked really hard on them, and would appreciate it if you would respect the copyright, thanks. :)
All the pets you see in the Critter Caves already have owners.
Q. "Ok. So I was looking at the examples of the adoptables and I saw one that has (insert abnormal wolf/gryphon/dragon quality)! What?!?"
A. Ah, you must have seen a critter that is a different Type! Types can be compared to the suit of a playing card, so whichever the species, there four known different types that a pet can be.
Here they are in a nutshell;
Superior: A Superior is a certain type that has a "super power" of sorts. Like a Superior with the power of invisibility, the pup can turn invisible! Cool huh? They are the rarest of the four Types, and are often the most sought after. You can tell your pet is a Superior if they have a little symbol marking on their design (or on the bottom right corner of their image, for the older pets).
Elemental: The second rarest of the Types. Elementals have the ability to "control" an element, such as fire. Misty is a Mist Elemental, so she can control or "transform" into mist! You can tell your pup is an Elemental if their animation controls an element, or if they turn into their element (such as a Snow Elemental turning into a snow pup), or based on their pose, which may depict them controlling an element.
Mutant: Mutants are the most varied of the Types. They are the second most common, and probably the most unique! You can tell your pup is a Mutant if they have...well...a mutation! Something like two-tails, wings, or antlers are a tell-tale sign.
Simple: Simples are your normal adoptables. They are the wolves with no crazy powers, or your dragon without the weird fins or spikes. They are the normal ones, basically (but oddly enough, they often have the craziest designs!)
So, for example, a wolf can be Mutant, Elemental, etc. just like a Queen playing card can be a Queen of Hearts or a Queen of Diamonds.

Q. "So these pets aren't just your regular wolves/mythical creatures?"
A. Nope! They come from a place called Lunaryk located far, far, far away. I made the place up shortly after MnF v2. It adds a bit of uniqueness to the place, and if you want to learn more, there's lots of info in the Lunaryk Almanac!
Q. "Is Misty n' Friends a free website?"
A. Yes. MnF is a non-profit hobby of mine and you are not required to pay to be a member or adopt pets. However, I allow donations (not yet installed) for those of you who would like to help out a young student with financial responsibilities. Heh. I also plan to open up donations to help out charity organizations, someday.
I may also someday allow commissions for payment, but this isn't a thing yet.
Q. "Can I have a wolf with sparkle eyes and an afro with a cool scarf and...?"
A. That sounds awesome! But uh...not normally, sorry. See, these critters are pre-designed, and I spend lots of time drawing and coloring these critters, therefore I cannot always have the time to design commissions since they are more demanding. So knowing that, I have not opened up customs. When that time comes you can design your dream pet to your hearts content, friend.
Q. "So tell me, why are all these creatures babies?"
A. Hm...Well, the site is called Misty n' Friends, so logically most of her friends will be her age, which is roughly around 7. However, like with Family Packs and such, you will find adult wolves. Other species not so much because well...Misty knows more adult wolves than any other species (and I don't have enough time to draw new lines, unfortunately). You never know, though, you may see one sometime.
